Everything You Need to Know About TheFork Gift Cards

A TheFork Gift Card works as prepaid restaurant credit rather than credit for one particular restaurant.

After receiving the card, the recipient adds its unique code to their TheFork account in the mobile app, books a participating restaurant, enjoys the meal, and then pays through TheFork Pay using the Gift Card balance.

Current standard France Gift Cards are valid for 18 months from the issue date and can be used over multiple restaurant visits until the balance reaches zero or the card expires.

What Can You Buy with a TheFork Gift Card?

A TheFork Gift Card is made for dining out.

Use it to pay for eligible meals, drinks, desserts, wine, and other food or beverage items added to your restaurant bill at participating restaurants in France.

There is no fixed menu attached to the card. The recipient can search TheFork for a restaurant that accepts Gift Cards and choose the experience that suits them, from casual meals to special-occasion dining.

TheFork currently says its Gift Cards are accepted at more than 8,000 participating restaurants in France, including some restaurants featured in the MICHELIN Guide.

Important: Understanding TheFork Gift Card Region Restrictions

This version of the TheFork Gift Card is intended for France and uses EUR.

TheFork clearly states that a Gift Card is valid only in the country where it was purchased. France-issued Gift Cards can therefore be used only at participating TheFork France restaurants.

You cannot assume that a France Gift Card will work with TheFork restaurant programs in Spain, Italy, Belgium, or another country.

Before purchasing, make sure the recipient needs the France / EUR version.

Frequently Asked Questions

The digital TheFork Gift Card is delivered by email.

During purchase, you can choose the delivery date. TheFork states that the card is sent by email on the selected day. If you choose the same day as the purchase date, the recipient is informed immediately, but for security reasons the Gift Card becomes available and usable within 24 hours after payment.

An older sales-channel document notes that delivery is generally immediate but may take up to 48 hours in some cases, so the current Gift Card page’s 24-hour activation guidance is the better rule to follow for standard purchases.

Yes. TheFork Gift Cards are country-specific.

A Gift Card bought through TheFork France can only be used at participating restaurants in France.

The restaurant must also actively accept TheFork Gift Cards / TheFork Pay. You can find eligible restaurants by using the Gift Card filter in TheFork.

Yes. Standard TheFork France Gift Cards are valid for 18 months from their date of issue.

The issue date can be earlier than the date the recipient actually receives the card, so it is worth checking the expiry date shown in the Gift Card PDF.

TheFork may occasionally issue promotional Gift Cards with a different validity period, so the expiry date printed on the specific card always takes priority.

TheFork’s standard Gift Card page does not currently list a separate activation or digital-delivery fee for normal Gift Card purchases.

You choose a value between €15 and €150 and pay the amount shown during checkout.

The Gift Card can be used toward the restaurant bill, and if its balance is not enough, the recipient can pay the remaining amount separately.

Always check the final checkout total before completing the Gift Card purchase.

First, make sure you have added the Gift Card to the correct TheFork account in the mobile app.

Also check that:

  • The card has not passed its 18-month expiry date.
  • There is still available balance.
  • The restaurant accepts TheFork Gift Cards.
  • You made the reservation through TheFork.
  • You are paying through TheFork Pay.
  • The Gift Card code has been entered correctly.
  • You are using a France-issued card at a participating restaurant in France.

Once the code is added to your account, you can view the remaining balance under “My Gift Cards” in the TheFork app.

Yes. TheFork Gift Cards are specifically designed for gifting.

The purchaser can buy a digital card and have it sent to the recipient by email, together with a personalised message. TheFork also currently offers both digital and physical Gift Cards.

A Gift Card can be transferred to another person as long as its code has not already been added to the purchaser’s TheFork app account.

It works well for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, thank-you gifts, or anyone who enjoys trying new restaurants.

Current TheFork Gift Card sales terms list the following payment methods for eligible online purchases:

  • Visa debit or credit card
  • Mastercard debit or credit card
  • Apple Pay

Available payment methods can change depending on the current Gift Card sales partner or checkout flow, so use the options displayed when placing your order.

Yes. TheFork Gift Card is an official TheFork product.

The current terms state that Gift Cards are issued by La Fourchette SAS, operating as TheFork. The official TheFork France Gift Card page sells digital cards in partnership with its current Gift Card provider.

For a specific card to be trusted, purchase from TheFork or a reputable authorized Gift Card retailer and keep the purchase confirmation until the card has been successfully added and used.

To use a TheFork Gift Card:

  1. Download the TheFork app.
  2. Sign in or create a TheFork account.
  3. Open “My Gift Cards” and add your Gift Card code.
  4. Search for a restaurant that accepts TheFork Gift Cards.
  5. Make your reservation through TheFork.
  6. Enjoy your meal.
  7. After dining, open the app and pay the bill using TheFork Pay and your Gift Card balance.

No. You do not need to use the full TheFork Gift Card in one restaurant visit.

If your restaurant bill is lower than the available Gift Card value, the unused balance remains available for future eligible payments. The same Gift Card can be used multiple times until the balance reaches zero or the card expires.

For example, if you have a €100 Gift Card and spend €65, the remaining €35 stays available for another participating restaurant.

The card cannot be reloaded, replaced or exchanged for cash, so keep the Gift Card and account details secure until the full balance has been used.
